NIDM, is a premier institute for training and capacity development programs for managing natural disasters in India, on a national as well as regional basis. The National Centre of Disaster Management (NCDM), constituted under an Act of Parliament in 1995; was redesignated to give the present name of National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) by the ''Disaster Management Act 2005''〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Disaster Management Act 2005 )〕 passed by President of India on 9 January 2006, NIDM also serves as international SAARC Disaster Management Centre (SDMC) and works as focus for its operation and planning. ==History== The International Decade for Natural Disaster Reduction,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.unisdr.org/who-we-are/mandate )〕 proposed with the purpose of ensuring the implementation of the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction prompted the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, the nodal ministry for disaster management in India to establish a national centre for management and planning the control of such natural disasters in 1995. The Centre was later upgraded as the National Institute of Disaster management (NIDM) on ''16th October 2003'', with the transfer of the subject of disaster management to the ''Ministry of Home Affairs''.
